Version 2.2 of Phantom includes the following new features. Since the release of version 2.2 there have been four maintenance releases: version 2.2.1, version 2.2.2, version 2.2.3 and version 2.2.4. Adobe Portable Document (PDF) IndexingPhantom 2.2 supports indexing text from PDF files on Web sites or local servers. PDF support is completely transparent- Phantom will download and index text from PDF documents linked from a site just like HTML or text files. With local indexing and its built-in web server, Phantom can serve as a stand alone, cross-platform solution for full-text search and retrieval of PDF archives. All that is required is a server and Phantom with Web browsers on client computers. Customize Forms, Results and Agents Page Formats by SessionResults formatting, default search and agent forms, agent messages and other templates can now be customized on a per-session basis. In addition to headers and footers customizable by session in Phantom 2.1, administrators can now customize every aspect of pages returned by Phantom for each session. Faster IndexingImproved queue management improves performance when indexing larger sites. Indexing sites with thousands or tens of thousands of pages is now 40-400% faster than with version 2.1. Full META NAME Tag Indexing and SearchingThe entire NAME and CONTENT attributes of META tags are now indexed by Phantom. Combined with relevance rank weighting, this ensures that searching for words in descriptions and keywords will make more relevant pages rank higher in search results. Also, searching for additional meta fields is possible by including the field name and desired content when searching pages with standard or organization specific extended META tag scheme. Administration Interface ImprovementsSession pages have been revised to allow access to the page browser, session timer, filter and robot directly from the session details page. The session statistics have also been combined with the session robot log on a new "Reports" page. These changes streamline navigation of the administration pages, requiring less scrolling and fewer page accesses when performing common administration tasks. Arbitrary Document Format IndexingPrevious versions of Phantom would only index the contents of text or HTML documents. Phantom now allows indexing of text contained in any document file type. This makes it possible to index text from any document format containing plain text, including files from many word processing and other business application. Crawl Depth OptionPhantom now allows administrators to limit indexing of sites to a specified folder depth on local or remote Web sites. User Passwords for AgentsUsers can now specify a password when creating agents. This prevents users from viewing, modifying or deleting agents belonging to other users. Administration UsersAdministration access can be unconditionally allowed (without a username and password) or unconditionally disallowed by IP address. More Changes Since 2.1
